How to build a monolithic concrete pool with your own hands

The most affordable and beloved by many is a vacation in the country. On your own ennobled site it is so nice to relax, chat with relatives and friends, have a party or have a good time in seclusion. Therefore, the desire to make the summer cottage as convenient, comfortable and suitable for a good rest is quite understandable.

The pool will also be useful in the country. Many refuse this luxurious element, believing that its device will be very expensive. But this is not so, because it is quite possible to make a pool with your own hands in the country! It is also possible to decorate a summer cottage with a pond or a small fountain. These simple structures will help you master the basic types of work needed to build a pool. There are many methods and techniques for building a pool. We will introduce you to the most popular and convenient for your own implementation.

Step-by-step scheme for the construction of a monolithic pool

The construction of the pool requires a phased implementation of the following steps:

  • development of a plan, preparation of drawings,
  • drainage device, thermal insulation,
  • gain,
  • laying of communications,
  • pouring the solution
  • waterproofing, sealing,
  • Finishing work.

Independent construction of a monolithic pool

Our instructions will help you quickly and efficiently build a pool in the country with your own hands. At the initial stage, it is important to determine the place where you want to organize a reservoir. It is important to consider not only your own preferences and desires, but also the capabilities of the site and its features. In order to make the right choice, it is necessary to draw up a site plan with all the details and analyze it. Several parameters will help you determine two or three places suitable for the pool.

It is desirable that the selected area be free from large plants and trees. In an open place, the water will warm faster, and will remain cold for a long time in the shade. Also, the roots of the trees can cause the destruction of the bowl, and leaves, grass and other debris will cause a lot of problems. All this will have to be constantly caught from the water.

Correctly calculate the depth of the pool. An adult can swim more or less comfortably at a depth of at least 1.5 m. If there is less water, then the pool will be suitable only for children. At the desired depth of the pool, add 1.5 m to the drainage and take into account the thickness of the concrete walls of the bowl.

An equally important issue is communication. It is important not to spoil them in the process of preparing the pit. Before starting work, it is necessary to determine where they are laid. After all the preparatory work is completed, you can proceed directly to the excavation work. When digging a pit, consider the need for sloping walls. It should be about 5º. This nuance will save you from problems with constantly crumbling earth.

The next task that needs to be solved by erecting a pool with your own hands in the country is a waterproofing device. The first stage of the solution is the task - the creation of a fifteen-centimeter sand-gravel “pillow”. It must be tamped and leveled. A ruberoid is placed on top of the “pillow”. First, one layer, and on it - the second. The edges of the sheets should rise above the ground by at least 20 cm.

The next step is amplification. It is performed using a reinforcing cage. You will need a material of 20 mm diameter. After the frame is ready and laid, the pit is poured with concrete.

The best option for pouring is the entire bowl at once, without dividing into layers. But this is not so easy to do, especially if the construction is carried out on their own.

Therefore, as a rule, this stage is divided into several sub-stages. First of all, they fill the bottom. It is important to leave a slight bias towards the drain. After the bottom, the walls are prepared.

To achieve high quality casting, it is recommended to use vibration units. At that time, while the solution at the bottom dries up, you can do the laying of communications.

After the bottom solidifies, work with the walls begins. To do this, create a formwork. Please note that the future wall of the pool should be at least 40 cm. If you fill in two stages, then the reinforcement is also performed accordingly. After you have done and installed the formwork, you need to make a frame that connects to horizontal parts. Now you can pour concrete. It also needs to be sealed with a vibration mount. After it hardens, you can perform finishing work.

Multilevel pool and features of its independent construction

Want to know how to make a pool in the country with your own hands inexpensively? The video on this page will help you understand the basic principles and methods of performing all the necessary work. Read our descriptions, see photos and videos, and you can build your dream pool on your summer cottage. For example, a luxurious multi-level pool.

In this section you will find detailed recommendations for each stage of the construction of a multi-level simple pool without complex communications. In it, the bowl is simply filled with water, and after a while it is sucked off, and the bowl is filled with fresh clean water.

The first step is to choose a place. Then it is necessary to carefully think over each stage of the work, to assess the reality of their implementation at a particular selected location. Next, an optimal plan is drawn up that will allow you to accomplish everything you need with maximum savings and efficiency. After this, you can proceed to the pit.

Since a multi-level design is planned, it is necessary to calculate the size of each level. In the process of digging a pit, level by level, filling is also performed. So, gradually, you will go to the bottom. After hardening, you can carry out a test set of water to find out where there are leaks. If there are no defects, then water must be pumped out. Further, you can finish the concrete according to your personal preference.

This is one of the simple and affordable ways for everyone to build a pool in the country with their own hands. In this case, you will not have to bother with sewage, sewage and other utilities. Such a pool does not need cleaning devices. A simple, comfortable and economical pool, which not only allows you to enjoy the water coolness, but also serves as a wonderful decoration of the site.

Do-it-yourself polypropylene pool in the country: photo step by step

Polypropylene is a modern and practical material, excellent for creating a pool. Among its characteristics can be called high strength, resistance to temperature extremes, reliability and ease of maintenance.

If you decide to build a polypropylene pool, then, as in previous cases, you need to determine the right place for it. The selected territory must be marked in order to be able to dig a hole correctly. It is recommended to leave a reserve of space, about a meter wide, so that in the future it will be convenient for you to walk around the pool, and also perform various work with pipes and other utilities.

Determine what height the board will reach. You need to dig half a meter deeper than the location of the bowl to provide a place for a special “pillow”. Geotextiles are placed at the bottom of the prepared pit. From above, a crushed stone "pillow" is prepared on it. The layer should reach 30 cm. Then reinforcement is performed and concrete is poured.

You can dig a hole yourself or order special equipment. Unnecessary soil can be scattered around the site or taken out.

Then the surface of the pit must be aligned in height, laid out with geotextile and crushed stone. The resulting "pillow" is tamped. Then, preparing the reinforcing cage, crosswise connecting the rods with wire every 25 cm. The resulting frame is stacked on top. In order for him not to lie on the rubble, bricks are laid in places under it.

If you plan to build a large pool, then you will need a lot of mortar. We recommend ordering it ready-made. This will give you the opportunity to perform a one-time fill of the entire base. Before filling, you need to install beacons from the pipes. They will form the basis for the final floor in the future. The foundation is poured with a margin of half a meter around the perimeter.

During the set of strength with the base, you can prepare the elements of the bowl of polypropylene. To do this, you need to purchase a welding extruder with the function of making seams of different types. The optimal choice of material is polypropylene sheets 4x1.5 m, 5 and 8 mm thick. Thinner material is easier to bend, so it will go to the construction of the Roman staircase.

When seaming from the outside, use a 90º seam shoe. The seams inside are made with an oval bar.

The bottom elements are welded directly on the base. First of all, you need to go with a manual extruder from the outside, and then with an oval bar and a hot air gun on the other side.

Before laying the bottom of polypropylene, the base is covered with geotextiles. Polystyrene foam is layered on top of it.

If you do not know how to build a pool in the country with your own hands made of polypropylene, familiarize yourself with not only this instruction, but also with the features of welding this material before starting work.

After the bottom is assembled and laid, the locations of the elements of the future walls are determined. The marking is necessary so that the cup turns out exactly as you planned. The wall prepared for installation is put in its place. The connection is made from the inside with a hot air gun. But this is not the main mount. This is a temporary measure so that the structure has a general view while external welding is performed by the extruder.

When all the walls have found their place, we proceed to the creation of the stairs.

After this, it is necessary to install stiffening ribs. They are made of thick polypropylene and should be located at a distance of 60 cm from each other. The ribs are welded with a welding rod. Holes for fastening reinforcement 12 mm in diameter are prepared in advance in the slats. The distance between them is half a meter. In places where the bowl has a rounded shape, additional stiffness is not needed, polypropylene is already strong enough. The bowl must be insulated by laying foam sheets between the ribs.

From equipment to such a pool are required:

Remember to leave the appropriate drain hole when pouring. If you forgot to do this, then the drain will have to be transferred to the wall. And in this case, the water, which will be below the drainage level, will have to be pumped out.

Holes in polypropylene can be made with the same tools as in wood.

The nozzle binding is made of PVC pipes. Of the connection is provided with special glue. It’s easy to do this job. The pipe must be treated with sandpaper for the length of the gluing and the element that will connect it (corner, coupling). Then, at a 45º angle, the chamfer is removed from the pipe. The glue is distributed on the pipe and the connecting element and the pipe is tightly inserted. After 4 minutes you will get a reliable connection.

Pipes installed in their places are insulated. In order that the insulation is not torn off in the process of pouring concrete, it is wrapped with tape.

It is important to correctly connect the nozzles to get a uniform pressure in each of them. First, the connection is made in pairs, and after that the central line is introduced in the center of the connection of each pair.

Filtration devices, a heat exchanger and other equipment are best installed in the basement. Pipes must be insulated and dug trenches for them.

Next, in order to build a pool in the country with your own hands, you need to properly pour concrete. This must be done around the perimeter in several stages. A new 30 cm layer is added daily.

In order to avoid the appearance of strong concrete pressure on the pool walls, formwork is installed on the inside and outside. From the inside, it must be fixed so as to maintain a strictly perpendicular position to the ground and sides. Concrete is poured as follows:

  • Formwork is installed. Her height is 30 cm,
  • The 30 cm basin is filled with water,
  • Further, the solution is poured with the same layer,
  • A day later, the pool is again typed at 30 cm,
  • After transferring the formwork, the next layer of the solution is poured.

After the solution gains strength, you can proceed to the finishing work.

Types of pools

Explore all possible types of structures, if you conceived a pool in the country with your own hands. Photos will help you choose the best option that is suitable specifically for your site. Perhaps in your case it is better to do without construction and limit yourself to a portable or inflatable structure. We offer you a brief overview of the most popular pool designs.

Irregular shape. Such a pool will not only refresh you in the heat, but will also become an excellent decoration of a summer residence.

Perfect circle. Good shape, comfortable and beautiful. You can play favorably with water levels by choosing a place with a vertical drop.

Round frame pool. A small and compact pool of small depth will make your children happy! It is convenient to collect it in the summer and disassemble it in the cold season.

Two-compartment pool. Usually one is made shallow and the other is deep. So, both adults and children can enjoy water procedures.

Inflatable pools. The easiest way to create a summer pond for children.

Choose what you like best. And our advice will help you build even a complex capital structure!

We calculate the dimensions of the pool

First of all, we take into account the recommendations for the depth of the pool:

  • If the pool depth is 1.2 - 1.5 m, then this will be enough for a full swimming adult.
  • If you plan to equip the structure with a springboard for jumping, then the minimum depth of the bowl should be at least 2.3 m.

To calculate the pool bowl, consider the following example, for example:

  • the internal length of the pool will be 5 m,
  • internal width - 2 m,
  • water level - 1.3 m,
  • depth at the highest point (including the side) - 1.5 m,
  • depth at the lowest point (with sides) - 1.8 m,
  • distance to the ledge - 2 m,
  • wall thickness - 20 cm.
  • bottom thickness - 25 cm,
  • width of boards - 45 cm,
  • side height - 30 cm.

Based on these figures, we will be able to calculate the dimensions of the pool, the scheme of which will look like this.

According to this project, the volume of water in the pool will be 6.9 m 3, the volume of the pit - 14.41 m 3 and the volume of concrete - 6.55 m 3.

In addition to calculating the volume of building material, you need to know how to properly prepare a solution for this type of structure.

The composition of the material for the concrete pool

Concrete pools have the longest service life, which is about 100 years (for comparison, polypropylene, which is very popular, lasts no more than 30 years). But, in order to build a durable concrete pool with your own hands, of course, you need to choose the right composition of the building material and calculate its proportions.

The brand of concrete for the pool should not be lower than M 350, it is better to take Portland cement M 400. It is also important that the material meets the requirements of frost resistance. For an artificial reservoir, this indicator should not be lower than F 100. The water resistance of the PC should be W6.

For modeling the bowl and independent construction of concrete monolithic pools, heavy concrete, plasticizing and hydrophobic additives are usually used.

Useful! To give the material the desired density during operation, you can use a construction vibrator or a vacuum pump.

To make concrete for the pool (per 1 m 3) you will need:

  • 600 kg of PC
  • 1,600 kg of sand (it is better to choose raw materials of medium granulation),
  • 60 kg silica fume,
  • 800 kg fiber
  • 1 kg of plasticizing additives.

In this case, the water-cement ratio will be 0.3%.

If we talk about other analogues, from which you can build a pool, then, unlike houses and garages from cinder block, this material is absolutely not suitable for artificial reservoirs. No wonder such products are called wall blocks.

It is better not to build a cinder block pool, since this material is too moisture-permeable, especially if sawdust is used as a filler in the block. In the best case, from cinder blocks you can make a permanent formwork for a concrete pool, but even for this purpose you will need to choose a solid material with the highest strength. In addition, the cost of such formwork will be decent.

It is also worth considering some of the features of your suburban area.

What to look for before starting construction

To do everything right, you need to consider several important aspects:

  • Near the future construction there should not be large trees, so their root system can violate the integrity of the structure. In addition, foliage and small branches will constantly fall into an outdoor pool, which in turn will lead to rapid water pollution.
  • Groundwater should lie quite deep, if they are at a depth of 0.5-1 m, then such a building should be abandoned.
  • It is not recommended to build a pool close to residential buildings.

If we talk about choosing a skimmer or overflow pool, it is better to give preference to the first option of water circulation. In this case, after taking it from the bowl with a skimmer, the water immediately goes into the purification system. At the overflow pool, water is taken over the edge, after which the water is redirected to special overflow troughs and only after that goes into disinfection systems.

After all the calculations and determining the quality of the soil, you can proceed to digging the pit.

Cooking the pit and fall asleep pillow

Before starting work, the device for pool drainage is necessarily considered. To do this, determine where the drain and fill lines will lie.

To dig a pit, it is necessary to apply markings on the ground, which will be 60-80 cm larger in width and length than the dimensions of the pool itself. When calculating the depth of the pit, also consider the height: bedding, bottom slab and finish.

So that the walls of the pit do not crumble during operation, it is better to make them at a slope of 5 degrees.

At the next stage, it is necessary to lay pipes under the drain (bottom), if you provide for such a system of water intake. The system is displayed in the pit at an angle.

It is also necessary to lay on the bottom 2 layers of roofing material or geotextile, which will play the role of a waterproofing material. It is better that the waterproofing go to the walls of the pit by 20 cm.

After that, the pillow is filled up and tamped to the bottom of the finished foundation pit:

  1. The first layer is 15 cm of sand.
  2. The second layer is 15 cm of crushed stone.

In the process of tamping the pillow, it is also necessary to form a slope aimed at the drain (bottom).

Reinforcement

For concreting the pool, it will be necessary to prepare a low formwork and reinforcement, the rods of which in no case can be welded. To avoid corrosion, use only wire to fasten the mesh.

The formwork for the pool should outline the contour of the future building. Inside it, two levels of reinforcement are neatly stacked:

  1. The first should rise 5 cm above the edges of the slab.
  2. The second level fits 5 cm below the top edge.
  3. Since a slab with a thickness of about 20 cm is usually poured to the bottom, the distance between the two layers of reinforcement should be 10 cm.

Useful! For difficult soils, use thicker reinforcement.

Pool reinforcement is carried out by ribbed rods with a diameter of 10-14 mm and cells of 20 x 20 cm, which are stacked on small stones. The laying step is 20 cm. It is necessary to step back 5 cm from the edge of the plate and bend the rods with the letter “G” (these bends will be required to create the frame of the walls).

Fill the bottom

After the frame is made, prepare and pour concrete mixture to the bottom of the pool. To increase strength during the pouring process, use a vibrating system that compacts the solution.

After pouring and leveling (do not forget to keep the slope) you need to wait a week until the plate hardens. If the weather is hot, then during this time moisten the concrete surface with water 2 times a day.

After pouring the pool bowl, you can not waste time and prepare communications for draining the water into the cesspool.

Build the vertical walls of the bowl

For walls, it will be necessary to build the formwork from moisture-resistant plywood about 21 mm thick or planked on one side of the boards (it will be more convenient to work with plywood). In this case, it is necessary to maintain a distance of 40 cm between the vertical slope of the pit and the formwork itself, and also take into account the wall thickness (20 cm).

After that, it is necessary to install reinforcement in the formwork and connect it with the “tails” of the horizontal reinforcing layer. The reinforcement pitch and mesh type are the same as for the bottom.

At the next stage, concrete mortar is poured into the finished formwork. He also dries 7 days.

Plastering and re-waterproofing

After the main production of the pool is completed, we proceed to the plastering work. As a plaster, we use the following solution:

  • 1 part cement grade not lower than M 500,
  • 2 parts of sand,
  • latex plasticizer (will make the composition water-repellent),
  • microfiber (has the same properties as reinforcement).

It is necessary to apply liquid coating waterproofing to the plastered surface. To give the protective layer more strength, it is better to apply the solution on a special plaster network of fiberglass with cells of 5 x 5 mm.

On this, the construction of the concrete pool is almost completed, and you can proceed to the finishing work. The easiest way is to cover the bowl with PVC film, it is easy to apply and has additional waterproofing properties.

After that, it remains only to connect the device for the disinfection of the pools and equip the structure with stairs, diving boards and removable dampers for draining the water.

Varieties of designs

Before answering the question of how to build a pool in the country with your own hands, you must decide on the type of structure itself. The choice of material and the technology of work will depend on this. Alternatively, you can offer the following varieties of pools:

  • Wireframe. Such designs can be purchased ready-made. The frame pool is a metal structure with a stretched canvas (usually a PVC film). The kit may include a ladder, a cleaning system, a pumping station, etc. this design is set for the season. The pool is already equipped with waterproofing, it’s enough to simply assemble the structure and pump water into it,
  • Plastic products. This option is a bowl of polymeric materials. The capacity can be purchased ready-made or ordered from a specialized company. Similar models as well as the previous version are installed for the season. It’s better not to leave a plastic container for the winter,
  • Stationary This type can be considered a real pool. Of course, its creation will require great physical and financial efforts from you, but as a result, a large body of water where you can swim will appear in the country house or in the garden.

As one of the options you can consider inflatable constructions. But such pools are not so comfortable because of their small size. And the quality of inflatable structures is often lame. Having pumped up the pool in the evening, in the morning you can find a piece of rubberized material in its place, lying helplessly on the ground.

Choosing the optimal size and location

Since it is the stationary pool that can be considered “real”, further discussion will be about this option. If you have decided on the type, then you should think about the installation location and the size of the artificial reservoir itself.

The choice of location in most cases depends on the wishes of the owner. Many install a pool behind the house, not far from the recreation area. But when choosing a place, it’s important consider some factors. Namely:

  • Priming. A lot will depend on its properties. Firstly, it is better that the soil is clay. In this case, you will receive additional natural waterproofing. Secondly, when creating a stationary pool, you have to dig a pit. If the selected area is rocky, then the work can be quite complicated and time-consuming, especially if you do it yourself,
  • The prevailing wind direction. Since the pool will be in an open area, it is more likely that various debris will get into it. So that when bathing you do not encounter debris from a piece of paper or dry leaves, it is better that the artificial pond is protected from the prevailing wind direction,
  • The presence of nearby vegetation. It is better that there are no bushes and especially trees near the reservoir. Plants are always drawn to moisture, and their roots are quite strong and can easily penetrate the concrete thicket of the pool.

If we are talking about the size of the artificial reservoir, then there are no special requirements. Everything will depend on the availability of a free site and your preferences. For example, for swimming on one lane it’s quite suitable two and a half meters wide and a length of 5 meters. If there are two tracks, then the width increases to 4 meters.

The optimal pool depth can be considered 1.4 meters. But here everything will depend on the goals for which you are building a pond. If you have children and the main task of the pool will be to entertain them, then doing it too deep is not worth it. And vice versa, if you are a fan of jumping from a tower, then depth will play a very important role.

Stages of the construction of the pool

In general terms, the process of building a stationary pool can split into the following steps:

  1. The choice of the type of reservoir and the preparation of its project. At the same time, a suitable site for construction is selected.
  2. Marking on the ground. Excavation.
  3. Arrangement of formwork and pouring the pool bowl.
  4. Drawing a waterproofing layer on the surface and finish the bowl.
  5. Equipping the pool with equipment and lighting.

As you can see, a lot of work. Moreover, each stage is important, because not only the appearance of the structure and the duration of its operation will depend on this.

Earthworks and making the bowl

Now let's move on to the question itself - how to make a pool with your own hands. When decided on the size and installation location, then start excavation. First of all, we mark the plot. To do this, you can use pegs and a stretched rope.

Next, we move on to earthworks. This is one of the most laborious stages of construction. You have to dig a foundation pit of the necessary sizes and depths. It should be borne in mind that the width, length and depth must be done about half a meter more. This extra space is necessary for the formwork device. If the size of the pool you were planning is pretty impressive, then you should think about involving special equipment.

After the pit is ready, you can set about creating a bowl future pool. The following activities are included in this phase of work:

  1. The bottom and walls of the pit are carefully rammed.
  2. A sand pillow is made. To do this, a layer of material 20-30 cm thick is poured onto the bottom and carefully tamped.
  3. A waterproofing layer is applied over the pillows at the bottom and over the entire surface of the walls. Today in the market you can find many materials that become a great barrier to water. The most budgetary can be considered the use of roofing material and bitumen mass. Such materials have been used for a long time and have proven themselves well. A layer of roofing material is laid over the entire surface (on the bottom and walls, the latter should be covered with material to the very top with a margin). Then several (preferably 3-4) layers of bitumen mass are applied.
  4. The next step will be the installation of the drain system. This must be done before installing the formwork. How many drain holes to make and where to place them will depend on the size and shape of the pool bowl.
  5. Next, we install the formwork, which can be made from improvised materials. After installing the formwork, we proceed to pour concrete. It is imperative to use reinforcement. In order for the bowl to serve for a long time, it is necessary to use concrete of the corresponding brand and with additives.

After solidification of the concrete mass formwork is removed. Next, it is necessary to treat the entire surface of the resulting bowl with a solution of concrete and water or to iron. At this, the main stages of the creation of the pool can be considered completed. Next, finishing and equipping the structure.

Decoration and lighting

Now you need to finish the pool bowl. But before that, an additional layer of waterproofing is applied. It is very important to close each crack so that the water does not damage the bowl. For these purposes, you can use impregnating materials, film or mastic.

After waterproofing, you can begin decorating. Ceramic tiles are most often used to cover the pool bowl. This material easily withstands a long stay in water, is easy to clean and has an attractive appearance.

In addition to ceramic tiles, you can use modern material, for example, PVC film. Modern manufacturers produce a wide range of such material. It is characterized by strength and durability. And if we talk about coloring and drawing, then there is always something to choose from.

On the finishing works themselves, you can finish, but it is better to equip the pool additional equipment. This kit usually includes:

  • Device for water purification. Such an assembly may include a circulation pump, a multi-way valve, a filter tank, and filter elements. With such equipment, changing the water in a pond can be much less common,
  • Flow heater. With its installation, you can swim even on cool days.
  • Lighting equipment. The backlight in the pool will look very beautiful.

Do not forget to equip the territory around the new artificial reservoir. Usually her also ceramic tiles. But here it is important to choose an option with anti-slip coating. In this case, you will reduce the risk of injury.

In conclusion

The pool in the country or in the garden is a great place to relax on hot summer days. And to make it yourself is not so difficult. You can build an artificial pond from improvised materials, but it is better and more reliable to make it out of concrete. Make calculations, make markings, dig a foundation pit, pour the bowl and finish. Here are the main stages of work. A little effort and financial investment, and you will have a great vacation spot for the whole family.

Cottage pool: detailed description and types of structures

Artificial ponds allow you to fully enjoy the coolness on hot days. In addition, the pool on the site is a place of rest not only for adult family members, but also a place for water procedures and games for the younger generation. Out of season, the pool can be used as a storage tank for watering plants on the territory.

The following types of pond structures are distinguished:

  • stationary,
  • demountable,
  • inflatable.

A stationary pool is a type of structure in which a reinforced concrete bowl is used. They are reliable, durable and installed for a long period of time. Their sizes and shapes can be very diverse: medium, large, tall, oblong, round, two-tier, etc.

To stationary structures can be attributed, as subspecies, frame and frameless reservoirs.

Frame structures can be purchased ready-made. In appearance, this is a metal structure with a stretched canvas, as a rule, PVC films are used. In addition to the pool there are stairs, a water purification system, a filter and a pumping station. The frame pool is installed only for the summer season, and then the entire structure is disassembled, and stored until next summer.

The collapsible pool model is more suitable for summer cottages that are not fenced or not guarded. Such pools are inexpensive, easy to assemble and disassemble, and also take up little storage space. Water is pumped into the reservoir on its own, but it must be carefully filtered.

The inflatable pool is the simplest design of the reservoir and the most unreliable. Nevertheless, it is inflatable pools that are widely popular among consumers. It can be installed anywhere, and even carried with you in the car. It will be difficult to inflate it yourself, but if you use a pump, the process is easier to complete. The disadvantages of inflatable tanks include:

  • weight restrictions
  • material can easily be punched or cut,
  • with a large amount of water sags,
  • water is not purified and stagnates, it must be changed periodically,
  • blown away for a long time.

So that you do not suffer from the constant assembly and disassembly of the pool, you can build it yourself on your site.

How to make a pool in the country without unnecessary trouble

The arrangement of the pool is not an easy task, and it is necessary to carefully prepare for it.

If you have already decided on the type of structure, then you should think about where to place the future reservoir, what size it should be and how much material is needed to complete all construction work.

Before starting the construction of the pool, it is necessary to choose the best place on your site where you can place it.

Experts recommend choosing a place where there is a slope of the soil. At the same time, it is desirable that trees and shrubs do not grow near the pool, because their root system can damage the waterproofing layer. In addition, in the autumn leaves will begin to pour from the trees, and regular cleaning of the bowl from debris will be required.

Choosing a place on the site, you need to monitor in which direction the wind blows. It is preferable if the wind flow passes along the bowl of the tank, then all the leaves and debris will accumulate at the edge of the pool and it will be convenient to clean it.

Groundwater plays an equally important role. It is recommended to organize the installation of the pool in the place where the groundwater level from the earth's surface reaches at least 0.5-1 meter.

In this case, the soil type plays a special role. The best option for building a tank is clay soil. If the waterproofing is damaged or broken, the clay is able to stop the leakage of water.

Dimensions and depth of the future reservoir

The size of the future reservoir should be determined based on its intended purpose.

The optimal dimensions for the rectangular shape of the pool are: width - 2.5 meters, length - 5-6 meters. At the same time, the width can be increased up to 4-5 meters, as well as the length, if the size of your site allows it.

If for purposes it is provided to dive from the side or jump from a high-rise, then the minimum depth of the bowl can be 1.5 meters. At the same time, if an additional springboard or tower is being constructed, the depth should be increased, but a smooth transition should be left up to one and a half meters.

If you plan to build a pool for children, then its depth should be 50-70 centimeters.

A multi-level pool or a pool with transitions to different depths is more difficult to arrange. Installation of such transitions should be done carefully so that there are no sudden changes.

Building materials and the selection of the right tool

In order to properly organize the construction of the pool, it is worthwhile to think about all the materials in advance and prepare the construction tool.

For the arrangement you will need:

  • concrete mixer,
  • carpentry tools (hammer, knife, stapler, rules),
  • carpentry set (self-tapping screws, screws, nails, tape measure, wrench, etc.),
  • ramming machine
  • screwdrivers
  • sand and cement
  • 25 mm diameter boards,
  • timber 50 mm,
  • waterproofing material,
  • fittings,
  • primer,
  • stapler for fittings,
  • adhesive base for tiles.

Pool decoration can be made of: tiles, mosaics, polypropylene, PVC films. The film can be selected in different colors: white, blue, blue, pink, etc.

Choosing polypropylene as a finishing material, you can be calm, because it is resistant to aggressive influences and is highly durable.

If you decide to equip the pool with tiles or mosaics, then when choosing it is worth paying attention to the water absorption indicators - it should be low. At the same time, the mosaic always looks respectable, expensive and aesthetically pleasing.

How to arrange an inexpensive pool with your own hands

The pool equipment process consists of several main steps:

  1. The choice of the type of design and the design of the future tank. Selection of the optimal place for placement on a summer cottage.
  2. The process of marking on the ground. Excavation.
  3. The construction of formwork and pouring under the pool bowl.
  4. Waterproofing and decorating.
  5. Additional equipment of the pool: lighting, equipment, cleaning, filtering, etc.

The first thing is to do the marking of the future reservoir on the site and carry out earthwork. To mark the design, you can use small wooden bars and a fishing line of bright color.

Following the markings, it is necessary to dig a pit under the pool of preferred sizes, while digging a half meter more to equip the formwork.

After excavation, you can begin to equip the formwork.

The walls and bottom of the pit should be tamped - for this you can use a tamper.

Then lay a layer of sand in 25-30 cm and compact the surface again.

Lay reinforcement on the surface and tie it with wire using a special hook.

The next step is to apply a layer of waterproofing. It is not difficult to choose a waterproofing material, in addition, a lot of options are available on the market today. However, for the pool, roofing material and bitumen mass are better suited. Apply a layer of waterproofing from roofing material to the entire surface and even the very top, and then apply 4 layers of bitumen mass from above.

Next, you need to install the drainage system. Drainage from the pool can be arranged in the general sewage system on the site. In addition, this is the most elementary way to remove the drain. The drain from the pool is connected to the sewer, and the pipes are hidden under a layer of earth and are laid under a slope. Then you can start organizing the formwork.

The formwork can be installed from improvised means and materials, and then pour all the concrete mass. The walls should be poured in several layers. Only after concrete hardens, the formwork is removed. In time, this can take from two to 4 weeks, depending on weather conditions.

Laying a waterproofing layer and finishing work.

A layer of waterproofing is applied to the frozen concrete walls: it can be a film, mastic or any other material. To trim the corner parts of the pool, you should use a special tape. This helps to prevent leakage.

Then you can safely proceed to the finishing work.

Pool structures can be made in ceramic tiles, mosaics or PVC film. If a tile or mosaic is laid, then after the main work, it is necessary to wipe all the seams with white or cream grout and wipe the surface from the remnants of the grout.

Pool equipment and additional equipment. In addition to the pool, if desired and possible, you can bring lights, water purification devices and even heaters.

The final stage of work is the arrangement of the territory in front of the pool and around the circumference.

Bowl for the pool: finished or home-made

As already described earlier, the foundation pit and pouring the bowls are the most labor-intensive processes. But today, many manufacturers can find ready-made bowls for the pool, which only need to be inserted into the ground and fixed.

In addition to ease of installation, the advantages of such bowls include the release of their various shapes, sizes and colors. At the same time, if a concrete bowl during operation can crack, if movements begin in the ground, then this fate does not wait for finished bowls.

Produce similar designs in plastic and composite. According to the installation principle, they are similar, the differences are only in the characteristics. Plastic must be additionally insulated around the perimeter of the walls. In a plastic construction, the main material is polypropylene. Polypropylene blocks are not afraid of burnout, do not require regular drainage of water, and do not be afraid of damage.

Composite structures are made of fiberglass, which is resistant to temperature extremes.

Of the many advantages, still the finished bowls have a minus - they are too expensive in price.

Therefore, do-it-yourself pool arrangement is a more economical and profitable business than buying a finished structure.
